This Poker game is based on the classic poker variant - 5 Card Stud Poker - but in Let it ride you are not playing against other players. Here you are only playing against lady luck.

When you start a new game of let it ride poker you have to make three equal bets. This is done by placing your chips in each of the three circles located in front of your playing position. Those circles will normally be marked as "$", "1" and "2". The chips in the boxes named 1 and 2 may be called back later on - but the chip in the $ circle is the minimum you have to risk.

After placing the poker bets each player and the dealer gets three cards face down. The dealer then will discard one of his cards immediately. Those cards are not a hand; they will later be used by you and every other player to create a five card poker hand out of his own three cards and the dealers two cards.

Once all the cards are dealt the let it ride players can pick up their first three cards and look at them. After you looked at your cards and you don't think you are going to have a winning hand, you can ask for your first bet back. This is done by dragging the cards on the table the same way as if you were taking a hit in Blackjack. The dealer will then give you back one of your three bets. In this case the one bet is out of the game regardless if you win or lose. If you think you have a winning hand just slide your cards face down under your bet. This signals to the dealer that you want to Let it Ride.

LetItRidePoker @ Spin Palace Casino

After every player chooses between "Let It Ride" or taking back one bet the dealer turns one of his two cards over. You now have to use the dealers up-card with your own three cards to make a good hand. At this point the betting, as explained above, starts over.

Each player is again given the choice to 'Let it Ride' or take his second bet back. In either case, whether you let it ride or take back your bet, the decision you made on the first bet will not be affected. For instance: If you after the first bet thought that you were going to have a winning hand and let it ride, but now you don't think you will be a winner anymore you could take your second bet back - but the first bet still remains on the table.

Once everybody has made their decision on the second bet, in the same way as explained above, the dealer will turn over his second card. Now you have to use both of the dealers up-card together with your three cards to make the best hand.

You are a winner if you have a Pair of Tens or better. The payout is based on the bets you left on the table. For each bet you left on the table you will get the following odds.

Let it Ride Poker Payouts

The ranking of the poker hands are the same as in regular Poker.

  • Pair of Tens or better pays 1:1
  • Two Pair pays 2:1
  • Three of a Kind pays 3:1
  • Straight pays 5:1
  • Flush pays 8:1
  • Full House pays 11:1
  • Four of a Kind pays 50:1
  • Straight Flush pays 200:1
  • Royal Flush pays 1000:1

Let It Ride Poker Strategy

With three cards you should only "let it ride" if you have:

  • Any paying hand (tens or better, three of a kind)
  • Any three to a royal flush
  • Three suited cards in a row except 2-3-4, and ace-2-3
  • Three to a straight flush, spread 4, with at least one high card (ten or greater)
  • Three to a straight flush, spread 5*, with at least two high cards

With four cards you should only "let it ride" if you have:

  • Any paying hand (tens or better, two pair, three of a kind)
  • Any four to a royal flush
  • Any four to a straight flush
  • Any four to a flush
  • Any four to an outside straight* with at least one high card
  • Any four to an outside straight* with no high cards (zero house edge)
  • Any four to an inside straight* with 4 high cards (zero house edge)

* Notes for the let it ride poker strategy: An inside straight is a straight where a card 'inside' is missing. Example: (6,7,9,10). An outside straight is one in which an outside card is missing. Example: (3,4,5,6). Outside straights are much better then inside straights because there are a total of 8 cards that can complete an outside straight - as opposed to 4 cards for an inside straight. A 'Spread 4' hand means that the cards in question span 4 ranks in a row, for example a (5,6,8). Spread 5 means the cards in question span 5 ranks, for example a (5,7,9). That is it - Good luck at the let it ride poker tables.
